Yes, we’re still here

Apologies for the gap between posts – life has been rather full ! Our shop closed after a successful three weeks, and we’ve had trips to the Manawatu Spin-in in Palmerston North and to Fibre Fest in Upper Hutt. In between times, members have been very creative. Here are some examples.

A stunning knee rug crocheted by Helen – there are no two squares the same –

and a woven rug by Liz.

Liz has also been busy on the big loom upstairs, this time making a knotted rug. (There are different kinds of knots for rugs, apparently, and Liz says hers are Ghiordes knots.) We watched it grow –

and become this.

Margaret showed us a kete she made from the fibre under the bark of a ribbonwood tree.

Last Wednesday we admired new weaver Juanita’s scarf,

and Caroline’s creations from the brioche workshop which Adrienne ran at our last education day,

and Terri’s lovely skein.

We were duly impressed (envious? Who, us?) by the basket of goodies Lynley won in a raffle at the Creative Fibre National Education Event. She’s going to be busy!

Then Wendy and Lynley retired to the kitchen and did interesting things with food colouring and white vinegar.

And –
Now we are beginning to look forward to the biggest event of our year – our annual Spin-In! It’s particularly special this time because last year’s had to be cancelled.

It will be held on the 3rd of September, at the Chanel College Hall in Masterton. More information very soon!
