At last!

I’m sorry it has been so long since the last post! Let’s see if we can make up for the gap.

At a recent meeting, members were embellishing a sheep –

and here he is in all his finery. Why?

If you are coming to the Festival of Fibres in Porirua in a week’s time, you will meet him there and find out what he stands for.

The Guild will have a display table, and of course some of our members have have also entered their work in the various competitions.

The chilly weather we’ve been having recently seems to have inspired members to make cosy rugs and other wrap-arounds.

Here is one we greatly admired  a little while ago by Helen. (This is a correction – got the maker wrong. Sorry Helen!)

The stole below was made by Marion

and this one by Adrienne.

Tracy made a really big blanket which will certainly keep her warm!

and Wendy brightened up the grey days by dyeing and crocheting this one.

The weather did allow a dyeing day, where people enjoyed experimenting with plant dyes – here are a few of the results:

Another focus for some has been toys. Pat showed us these adorable puppies

and Lib made a cute one with a long tail

while Wendy made little hedgehogs, from a pattern in the December 2022 Creative Fibre magazine (page 12).

Finally, any readers who will be in the Wairarapa in late May or early June are invited to drop in at our annual shop, have a chat and see all the lovely things members have made to sell. It will be open from Monday 29 May to Saturday 17 June, at 100 Queen Street, Masterton (next to the Trade Aid shop).
