Wairarapa spinners and weavers’ guild

March 2024….show and tell at our Wednesday weekly meetings.

Someone took a photo of your editor! Wendy is sitting with others from the Wairarapa spinners and weavers guild at their spot in the local Farmer’s Market, which they attend on the last Saturday of the month. The aim is to demonstrate spinning and to encourage new members to learn to spin.

Our member Juanita a very talented spinner and weaver is seen wearing her hand-woven vest and has also woven the fabric for her blue and white top, shown above.

Lynette Had hand-spun, and then plyed …one Husky (Dog named #tag) and then, one with wool adding spots of colour, she knitted a rug and soft toy for her Grandaughter. The rug is very light and soft.

Lynley has created a fabric yarn bowl to hold her knitting wool.

Lynley spent many hours spinning the wool for her bat wing jersey, she had knitted the whole jersey from cuff to cuff, and in the round.

Helen B created this special gift, a heart-shaped ornament made with felt, which depicts our member Karen transporting members to a recent trip to “Good wool hunting and around Greytown.

Susie Hilliard is one of our new members, she has donated this “Family Knitting Book” to the guild and will shortly be available to members, in our library.
